Episode 379: They Keep Killing Steed

This is the 379th edition of the Epileptic Gibbon podcast music show and the playlist to accompany it. You can CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD but note that the shows are large files. The show is also available to stream via Mixcloud and the Progzilla Radio Network (the show appears on Progzilla in alternate weeks). Happy New Year! I hope that you had a good, or at least a bearable festive season, and that you enjoyed the recent festive edition of this show. But it’s now time to welcome in the new year with a typically eclectic playlist, including a little bit of 2024 music. We also have a feature album, and for that we return to our new Prog Magazine feature, because the latest issue has an article on the wonderful Mitsune, so our feature album will be their second, ‘Hazama’, from 2022, and you’ll hear three tracks from that throughout the playlist. Otherwise you can expect the usual eclectic mixture of music, including tracks from 2023, some older tracks of various vintages, and a reflection on Chrimbo Limbo 2, our live music event that happened on the 28th of December in Cheltenham. Below you’ll find the track list, plus weblinks from where you can find more information about each artist.

Episode 375: Creative Endeavours with Hats Off Gentlemen It’s Adequate

This is the 375th edition of the Epileptic Gibbon podcast music show and the playlist to accompany it. You can CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD but note that the shows are large files. The show is also available to stream via Mixcloud and the Progzilla Radio Network (the show appears on Progzilla in alternate weeks). Hopefully you got through the recent Halloween special relatively unscathed. This new show couldn’t be much more different, as we have a twin focus on themes connected to science fiction and the cycle of violence, albeit through music, and this is reflected in the fact that we have an interview and no less than two feature albums. Our interview is with Malcolm Galloway and Mark Gatland, the duo behind Hats Off Gentlemen It’s Adequate, and one of our feature albums is their latest, ‘The Light Of Ancient Mistakes’, so you’ll hear three tracks from that during the interview, as well as music chosen by Malcolm and Mark, and a look ahead to their one day progressive music event, Prog the Forest ’23. And our second feature album is the soundtrack to the 2023 film, ‘The Creator’, and you’ll hear four tracks from or inspired by that soundtrack throughout the show. Other than that, you can expect the usual eclectic mixture of music, including a look ahead to this year’s Chrimbo Limbo live music event in late December. Below you’ll find the track list, plus weblinks from where you can find more information about each artist.

With this show I continue my slightly delayed countdown of my favourite albums of 2021. For this show it’s part 2 (of 3) of my 32 favourite albums of 2021. You can expect a great mixture of music in this show, and a typically eclectic playlist, with two tracks each from the albums I’ve placed between 20 and 11 in the countdown (you’ll hear the final top 10 countdown on the next show). Thanks to all the musicians who contributed and to all listeners. Send us comments if you like what you hear (or even if you don’t… feedback is so important!). If you want to keep up to date with news about the show, EppyFest, or just chat with other listeners, don’t forget that there’s a Facebook group – just search for the Eppy Gibbon Podcast Show on Facebook and request to join, plus don’t forget that we’re now part of the Progzilla Radio Network. Eppy will be busy for the next show, so regular guest presenter Rebsie will be sitting in for him, so you can expect lots more great music and the usual eclectic mixture of styles and genres, so I hope you’ll come back for that.

Episode 276: Best of 2019, Top 31 pt 2

This is the 276th edition of the Epileptic Gibbon podcast music show and the playlist to accompany it. You can CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD but note that the shows are large files. The show is also available to stream via Mixcloud and the Progzilla Radio Network (the show appears on Progzilla in alternate weeks). For this show it’s part 2 (of 3) of my 31 favourite albums of 2019. You can expect a great mixture of music in this show, and a typically eclectic playlist, with two tracks each from the albums I’ve placed between 20 and 11 in the countdown. We also pay tribute to two great and influential musicians sadly taken from us recently, Neil Peart from Rush, and Joel Vandroogenbroeck from Brainticket. I may well have to miss the next show as I’m likely to be snowed under with work from my day job, so hopefully my regular guest presenters, Daniel & Rebsie, will be sitting in instead, bringing you their own take on Eppy Gibbon music.
