Episode 329: Best of 2021, Top 32 pt 2

This is the 329th edition of the Epileptic Gibbon podcast music show and the playlist to accompany it. You can CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD but note the shows are large files. The show is also available to stream via Mixcloud and the Progzilla Radio Network (the show appears on Progzilla in alternate weeks). With this show I continue my slightly delayed countdown of my favourite albums of 2021. Last year was certainly another difficult one in many ways, but one upside is that there were many great albums released in 2021, so it was difficult to settle on a top 30, so in the end I didn’t bother, and instead I went for a top 32. For this show it’s part 2 (of 3) of my 32 favourite albums of 2021. You can expect a great mixture of music in this show, and a typically eclectic playlist, with two tracks each from the albums I’ve placed between 20 and 11 in the countdown (you’ll hear the final top 10 countdown on the next show). We’ll also kick things off with a tribute to the late, great Meat Loaf, who sadly passed away just after the previous show came out. Below you’ll find the track list, plus weblinks from where you can find more information about each artist.

Episode 313: Half-term report, 2021

This is the 313th edition of the Epileptic Gibbon podcast music show and the playlist to accompany it. You can CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD but note the shows are large files. The show is also available to stream via Mixcloud and the Progzilla Radio Network (the show appears on Progzilla in alternate weeks). Last time around, we had another of my occasional TV Themes specials, but this time we’re back to my more usual focus on new music, without a TV theme in sight. Because we’re near the half-way point of the year, I thought this would be a good time to do a show that entirely focuses on music from 2021, as I bring you some of the best music to be found on albums, EPs and singles released so far this year. I’m trying to cram in as much music as possible from many different releases, so therefore there will not be a feature album for this show. But I will be covering the usual eclectic mix of styles, genres and the unclassifiable. Below you’ll find the track list, plus weblinks from where you can find more information about each artist.

Episode 305: Best of 2020, Top 42 pt 3

The show is also available to stream via Mixcloud and the Progzilla Radio Network (the show appears on Progzilla in alternate weeks). This show continues my slightly delayed countdown of my favourite albums of 2020. It feels to me that, in an otherwise terrible year, there were so many great albums released in 2020, which meant I found it even harder than normal to get it down to a top 30, so in the end I didn’t bother, and instead I went for a top 42. For this show it’s part 3 (of 4) of my 42 favourite albums of 2020. You can expect a great mixture of music in this show, and a typically eclectic playlist, with two tracks each from the albums I’ve placed between 20 and 11 in the countdown (with the big top 10 countdown being revealed next time). In addition, we’ll also have something brand new from Garden of Live Flowers and Psychic Equalizer and I’ll reflect on the passing of the late, great Chick Corea. Thanks to all the musicians who contributed and to all listeners. Send us comments if you like what you hear (or even if you don’t… feedback is so important!). If you want to keep up to date with news about the show, EppyFest, or just chat with other listeners, don’t forget that there’s a Facebook group – just search for the Eppy Gibbon Podcast Show on Facebook and request to join, plus don’t forget that we’re now part of the Progzilla Radio Network. Next time, I’ll be back with a return to my review of some of the ‘best of the rest’ of 2019 music, so I hope you’ll come back for that.
