Episode 385: EppyFest 11 Preview

This is the 385th edition of the Epileptic Gibbon podcast music show and the playlist to accompany it. You can CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD but note that the shows are large files. The show is also available to stream via Mixcloud and the Progzilla Radio Network (the show appears on Progzilla in alternate weeks). This show is largely focused on previewing EppyFest 11, the latest of the live music events connected with this show, which will be happening on the weekend of July 27th and 28th, 2024. At Smokey Joe’s in Cheltenham you’ll be able to see six acts perform and on this show, you’ll hear tracks from all of the acts playing at EppyFest this year, including a feature artist, Tim Bowness, the wonderful English singer-songwriter who will be headlining the Saturday of the festival (27th of July) with his Butterfly Mind band, so you’ll hear three tracks by or featuring Tim throughout the show. You’ll also be hearing some spoken word contributions from most of the EppyFest 11 acts, so you’ll get some insights into what you can expect from them and what they’re looking forward to about the festival, and we’ll cover the usual diverse selection of styles and genres across the playlist, including some tributes to people we have sadly lost recently. Below you’ll find the track list, plus weblinks from where you can find more information about each artist.

Next time, in a couple of weeks, I should be back – I’m not exactly sure with what yet, but of course you can expect great and eclectic music. I really hope you’ll join me then.

  1. Drew Fisher says:

Glad to see you still geeking out on the Hands of The Heron–one of my favorite albums from 2021. Have you had them on your show! They seem wonderfully warm in their garden concert videos. Also love seeing Hania Rani–an absolute “can’t miss” artist whose work I look forward to seeing for years to come!

    • Hi Drew, Hands of the Heron have recorded some spoken word material for the show, and I have met them in the real world a few times and they are lovely, but we have yet to record an interview. We did plan one, but on the day, we didn’t have the technology to make it happen, so we’re looking to make sure it happens in the future, hopefully on the run-up to their 3rd album. Good to hear that you also like Hania Rani – a new name to me but I like what she does
