Thanks to all the musicians for producing such brilliant music and thanks to all you listeners too. Please leave a comment if you like what you hear (or even if you don’t… feedback is so important!) or if you want to have your say on my best of 2011 choices, or anything else connected to this podcast. I will be back as soon as possible with the fourth and final of my ‘best of 2011′ shows – a countdown of my favourite 20 albums/releases from last year. Trust me, it’s going to be a doozy.

Some interesting stuff on here, am much taken all over again with Magicfolk (though the song doesn’t remotely resemble Romberg’s The Desert Song, which is also quite special).

I was intrigued by your comments about how you choose the tracks – am I right in thinking that to qualify for the top 20 of 2011 a track has to be one of the best tracks from one of the best albums/CDs?

Very much looking forward to The Doozy!

I choose the top 20 albums first and then try to choose a particularly good example track (or two) off each album. So it’s a top 20 ‘albums of the year’ list, with examples off each album, rather than a top 20 ‘tracks of the year’ list (which might be quite different). Parts 1-3 featured lots of brilliant tracks (IMHO) where the rest of the album may not have been quite so good (again IMHO). But for an album to make it to the final 20 it has to be much more consistent. Hope that makes sense.

      Perfect sense, thanks.

A little off topic, are you planning another podcast previewing Summer’s End? The one last inspired me to go and I’m kind of waiting for a similarly revelatory experience this year, before I book a meal that weekend at my fave restaurant in Abergavenny.

      • epilepticgibbon said,

Yes, planning to do one, though scheduling an interview with Stephen Lambe is difficult with the uncertainty of the timing of my upcoming surgery.

  3. Cynthia Spencer said,

Quite. The interviews always add an interesting dimension to the podcasts.
