This is the thirty-fifth edition of the Epileptic Gibbon podcast music show and the blog entry to accompany it. CLICK HERE TO LISTEN. It’s a relatively short show this time around as I’m busy with other less interesting things, but there will be more than enough quality even if there’s less quantity. There’s material this time from all over the world, including artists from the UK, Israel, France, and the US, adding up to just over an hour of fascinating and varied music. This month the feature album is ‘A Part, And Yet Apart’, the 1999 acoustic jazz album from Bill Bruford’s Earthworks, plus there’s the usual diverse selection of styles and genres, including prog rock, epic pop, spacey folk rock, electronica, math rock, folktronica and general strangeness. Below you’ll find the track list, plus weblinks from where you can find more information about each artist.

Thanks as always to all the musicians who contributed to this show, and to you the listeners. Please do spread the word and send me comments if you like what you hear (or even if you don’t… feedback is so important!). The next show should be a slightly belated Halloween special with Count Eppy Gibbon, assuming we can dig him out of his coffin in time. In the meantime, don’t forget that you can vote for your three favourite artists as played on the Eppy Gibbon Podcast Show for a future poll/anniversary show. Votes can be sent to me via a number routes, including sending me a personal message on MySpace, or via the MySpace or Facebook groups for this music podcast, or by leaving a comment on this blog. See you soon!

It’s kind of back to normal this time around after the ‘month of interviews’, so the aim is to cram in as much music as possible; in fact there will be 20 tracks. This edition focuses primarily on this year’s Summer’s End festival, perhaps the UK’s biggest and best progressive rock festival. This is the fifth year of the festival and it takes place over the weekend of the 9th, 10th and 11th of October. We look ahead to the festival via an interview with Stephen Lambe, one of the co-organizers, and there’s music from many of the bands who will be performing (along with a few who aren’t), adding up to well over an hour of fascinating and varied music. Not surprisingly the focus will mainly be on various aspects of progressive rock, but as usual we’re pushing at the edges of musical boundaries so just open your ears and listen. We were supposed to be having a special guest presenter this time around but sadly that’s had to be postponed. So instead you get me again and a long track special, so there will be only seven tracks, five of which clock in at over seven minutes. We have artists from the UK and the US, adding up to well over an hour of fascinating, varied and generally quite lengthy music. This month the feature album is ‘Chupacabras’, the third album from US band Phideaux, plus there’s the usual diverse selection of styles and genres, including prog rock, spacey psych rock and experimental jazz rock. Below you’ll find the track list, plus weblinks from where you can find more information about each artist.

This is the twenty-seventh edition of the Epileptic Gibbon podcast music show and the blog entry to accompany it. CLICK HERE TO LISTEN. It’s the second anniversary of the show and to celebrate I thought I’d run through an A-Z of Eppy Gibbon artists, so there will be 26 tracks, with each letter represented by an artist who very much typifies one (or more) of the musical styles I play on the show. Not surprisingly, there’s material this time from all over the world, including artists from the UK, Italy and the US, adding up to around two hours of fascinating and varied music. This month there’s no feature album but there’s the usual diverse selection of styles and genres, including prog rock, electronica, experimental, math rock, ambient, pronk rock, avant prog, folky stuff and general strangeness.
Thanks as always to all the musicians who contributed to this show, and to you the listeners. Send me comments if you like what you hear (or even if you don’t… feedback is so important!). See you for the next very special episode which will celebrate the show’s second anniversary, featuring an A-Z of Eppy Gibbon artists – ideal for first time listeners and long-term fans alike.
